When I was a gym floor 1-1 personal trainer I helped many people get into phenomenal shape, but I was only impacting a handful of people on a daily basis. “I’ve been training for around 18 years and always held a pretty high level of fitness, I’ve tried near enough every style of workout from circuit training, bodybuilding, Crossfit, powerlifting, sets of 6, sets of 8, sets of 10, 5x5, football, swimming, running you name it. I have tried equal amounts of so called nutrition plans from low carb, no carb, carb cycling and Paleo each with varying results. Before I started with Ben I would’ve considered myself reasonably lean with a decent amount of muscle, when I took my initial photos I was shocked, blamed it on the lighting and how pale I looked and insisted it was the camera’s fault I couldn’t see any definition. During my first check in, Ben explained to me that it’s common to believe we are leaner than we are and I’m happy to admit that this was 100% true in my case.
When we discussed my fat loss goals, dropping from 78kg to 70kg sounded drastic and unobtainable without losing serious muscle and looking scrawny.
